Professional Help For The Tough Issues Girls Face

The girls listened closely to what Ms. Santoriella had to say about self-harm.

During the GEMS Year 2 program we ask a psychologist/counselor to come in and speak with our girls about self-harm, depression, abuse, and eating disorders. My sister, Lisa Santoriella, is a licensed community counselor who is willing to take some time to speak with our girls about these serious issues. She talks with them about the warning signs and where to turn if they suspects a friend to be dealing with any of these issues. Also, Lisa gives them some techniques to help them maintain a healthy sense of self and talks with them about the importance of a positive body-image. The girls love the opportunity to speak with a professional and hear about these issues that are so prevalent in our society.
